Did you know torn ACL’s are one of the most common orthopedic conditions we treat? It can affect all ages of dogs, but is usually a gradual degenerative injury. Whereas with humans, it’s more so due to trauma. If one knee ruptures, there’s around a 30% chance the other might give out as well. Neeva, almost 2 years old, had TPLO surgery on both knees. Months later, we still see her for post-operative physical therapy, which will help her heal faster and gain more strength in her legs. Her full regimen includes the underwater treadmill, therapeutic laser, electrical stimulation, and other stretching exercises for at least four weeks.
