The emergency service at IndyVet provides prompt assessment and life-saving treatment of patients in critical condition. Every emergency brings a patient and family to us that is in need, and our emergency doctors and nurses are available 24 hours a day to help. Our goal is to provide the best medical care and understanding to guide our patients and their families through the emergency, stabilization and after care.
The Emergency Service at IndyVet is there for you when the unexpected happens. At IndyVet, we have a team of highly specialized doctors and technicians that have dedicated their career to emergency medicine. Our experienced staff, coupled with our state-of-the-art facility, enables us to provide advanced emergency and critical care.
While an emergency is unfolding, every second counts. Our emergency and critical care service performs advanced initial diagnostics that enable us to diagnose serious conditions to implement life-saving treatment. Beyond our 24-hour care, we have a dedicated intensive care unit equipped to provide ongoing diagnostics, constant monitoring, and specialized therapeutics for critically ill patients.
We work with your family veterinarian, and communication is ongoing throughout the process. We provide each referring veterinarian with a detailed case summary including discharge instructions and diagnostic results. The IndyVet Connect Portal allows your family veterinarian to access your pet’s records instantaneously from their office or home computer day or night.
IndyVet is an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited referral and emergency hospital. AAHA is the only organization that inspects and accredits veterinary practices in North America. In order to maintain AAHA accreditation, each hospital must pass a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of 900 standards of veterinary excellence every three years. Less than 15% of veterinary practices in the United States hold the “AAHA accredited” designation.
Members of our 24-Hour emergency veterinary team administer the best possible care, day or night. Our ER nurses attend continuing education lectures and hands-on training year-round to maintain their certifications and expand on their exceptional skills.

Emergencies aren’t scheduled, which is why we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our dedicated staff of doctors and nurses work around-the-clock to provide whatever is needed to aid, assist, or comfort our patients, their families, and referring veterinarians. Our practice focuses solely on emergency and specialty care, leaving general wellness veterinary care to our colleagues.
