The IndyVet Blood Bank provides pet blood (both canine blood and feline blood) for use at veterinary practices throughout Indiana and across the United States.
Pet blood is used by veterinary hospitals for transfusions during emergency treatments, major surgeries and anemia.
IndyVet’s Feline and Canine Blood Bank collects, separates, and stores pet blood. Each unit of whole blood is broken down into packed red blood cells and plasma. Nothing is wasted and each unit can save 2-4 pets. Packed red blood cells have a shelf life of 42 days, while plasma can be stored for five years.
Having fresh prepared blood product allows veterinary hospitals across the country to treat many life threatening emergencies immediately.
The IndyVet Blood Bank has a HEALTHY pet colony with a ready supply of canine blood and feline blood (both packed red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma) for sale to veterinary practices across the United States. Currently, the IndyVet Blood Bank provides feline and canine blood to over 200 specialty and emergency veterinary practices throughout Indiana and around the country, shipping regularly to between 30 and 50 clinics and hospitals.
