IndyVet offers an externship program for successful veterinary technician students to further their clinic training. Gain extensive training at an AAHA accredited hospital!
You have the opportunity to observe (and assist) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatment and surgery! We love when our externs jump in and are ready to learn. You can experience any department in our hospital and we encourage you to observe, interact and ask questions.
Our externs are not responsible for client and referring veterinarian communication. Instead, you have the opportunity to learn from the best while you accompany our DVM or technician mentor in to the exam to listen, observe and learn. We encourage you to ask our skilled team members questions about their responses and communication skills.
Our technician externs are not responsible for patient care, however for any case that you and your tech mentor are involved in, our externs are expected to review the diagnostic plan and any treatment orders, make suggestions and/or ask questions.
