This award is presented in recognition of an IVMA member who has provided leadership or service to a particular project or program of the association. This award is given at the discretion of the Board of Governors. Dr. Gillespie completed her veterinary degree at Purdue University in 1997. After a private practice internship and a year of emergency medicine in New Jersey, she completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 and became board certified in 2003. She joined a surgical referral hospital and built an internal medicine practice in Memphis, TN where she practiced for 7 years. She was active in her local VMA association and assisted with organizing CE events for the Memphis area.
In 2008, she joined IDEXX labs as a consultant for the reference laboratory until 2012. She relocated to the Indianapolis area in 2011 and founded the Internal medicine service at IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital. She became active with CIVMA by serving on the executive board. She has since joined the IVMA CE committee and serves as one of the representatives for the IVMA on the Purdue Admissions Committee. When not working, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, two children and all of their critters.
