Dr. Steinken was originally born in Chicago, but then moved to Indianapolis at the age of 5 for her father’s job. So she considers Indy her home.
As a little girl, she always enjoyed spending time with animals. From pet sitting, taking care of her own dog, riding horses, and shadowing to eventually working at veterinary clinics, Dr. Steinken knew she wanted to become a veterinarian from a young age. She first obtained an undergraduate degree in Animal Sciences from Purdue University. For a scenery change, she then went out to Oklahoma State University where she found her love of emergency medicine. At Oklahoma, she achieved her dream of earning her DVM in 2021. Right after graduation she moved back home to be close to family again, and started working in emergency medicine and has never looked back.
In her free time, Dr. Steinken likes to read, hike, lift weights or workout, spend time with her nephew and family, and cuddle with her best friend, Tucker, or take him to the dog park.
