Bio
Dr. Fischer was born and raised in Indianapolis and worked as a veterinary technician in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area and as a zookeeper for the Indianapolis Zoo after his undergraduate studies in microbiology at Indiana University. Dr. Fischer graduated with high honors from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and went on to complete an internship in emergency medicine and critical care at Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Most recently he practiced as an emergency veterinarian in Guelph, Ontario, Canada for 8 years prior to coming home to Indiana to join the emergency team at IndyVet.
He currently lives with his wife Catherine and their five cats; Buster, Jetta, Diesel, Caspian, and Butterbean. His professional interests include emergency medicine, toxicities, and trauma. When not practicing emergency veterinary medicine, Dr. Fischer enjoys scuba diving, live music concerts, movies, and sports. Being from Indianapolis, his favorite teams include the Colts, Pacers, Cubs, and the Hoosiers and he is an avid follower of the Indianapolis 500.
