Allison Valentijn

Dr. Allison Valentijn grew up in north central Indiana, where she developed a love for animals and
science from a young age. Her family always had a particular affection towards Old English Sheepdogs,
but always supported Dr. Valentijn with her interests in other types of animals. In middle school and
high school, she volunteered at a therapeutic horseback riding clinic for children with physical
disabilities. She also had the opportunity to spend a week learning about veterinary careers at Purdue’s
Boiler Vet Camp. After graduating high school, she attended Northwestern University in the suburbs of
Chicago where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences; during this time, she also
volunteered in small animal clinics and completed a summer internship in wildlife rehabilitation. She
was then accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University, where she realized her
passion for internal medicine and oncology. She also spent three years of veterinary school working in
the Purdue Veterinary Hospital Clinical Pathology Laboratory.

In her free time, Dr. Valentijn enjoys reading, gardening, and hiking with her spoiled rescue dog Bailey.
