New Year, New Healthy Pet

The new year is a time of new beginnings for many of us, a time of reflection and resolutions for a better year, but what about our furry friends? Do you have any resolutions to help them lead longer, happier, healthier lives? Consider the following:

  • The number one resolution for people is to lose weight. There are many things you can do to help your pets achieve this goal, like cutting out table food, or changing their diet.
  • Next on the list of popularity is exercise. For your pets, consider calling a friend or neighbor who owns a pet for a play date, take your pet on a walk or to a bark park. The beauty of this resolution, is it can help you achieve this goal as well!
  • Trying new activities. Indianapolis is a great city for pets, take your pet to a ball game or attend the Mutt Strut for example. Look in the paper and do a little research and you’ll find many opportunities for activities around the city.
  • Out with the old, in with the new! Get rid of your pets old, worn out, chewed up toys, and replace them with some new ones.
  • Reduce Stress. Consider a thunder shirt to reduce your dog’s stress levels during a thunderstorm, or for cats, many toys emit different odors like lavender or pheromones that can reduce their anxiety levels too. This is important for pets as many diseases and conditions can be traced back to stress.
