Julie Trzil, DVM, MS, DACVIM-SAIM
Dr. Trzil always wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a little girl. As a girl scout in grade school she developed an effective community service project to raise awareness for the importance of spaying and neutering pets! Dr. Trzil remained passionate about veterinary medicine and never lost sight of her goal through high school or her undergraduate college education.
Dr. Trzil graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis Tennessee with a major in biology in 2005 and was accepted to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her veterinary medical degree in 2009. After graduation, she completed a rotating internship in veterinary medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University in 2010 and an internal medicine specialty internship at Memphis Veterinary Specialists in 2011. Dr. Trzil was then accepted into a small animal internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri. Dr. Trzil completed her residency along with a concurrent Master's degree in biomedical sciences in 2014 where she received the prestigious Redhage Award presented to residents for excellence in strong client/patient relationships with excellence in medicine.
Dr. Trzil enjoys treating a wide range of internal medicine disorders including liver, kidney, infectious, autoimmune, and hormonal diseases, while maintaining a special interest in respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases. She endeavors to provide the highest quality medicine and compassionate care while considering the interests and needs of the pet and the entire family.
When Dr. Trzil is not caring for animals, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, and her calico cat, Nikki. She also enjoys hiking, painting, and bowling.
Dr. Trzil recently completed extensive training in veterinary dialysis, and will soon establish a veterinary dialysis unit at IndyVet!
