IndyVet veterinary executive named “Hospital Administrator of the Year”
IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital (IndyVet), central Indiana’s only AAHA-accredited referral veterinary practice, is recognizing Executive Director Joe Huber as recipient of the Central Indiana Veterinary Medical Association’s (CIVMA) inaugural “Hospital Administrator of the Year” Award, reflecting this past calendar year.
Huber oversees IndyVet’s business operations including human resources, marketing, information technology, legal compliance, financial and facility management, strategic planning and purchasing duties.
Since 1996, he has played an instrumental role in developing a dynamic management team that has influenced the growth and expansion of IndyVet, formerly known as Indianapolis Veterinary Emergency Center and Indianapolis Veterinary Referral.
Over the past 19 years, the small companion referral and emergency hospital has expanded into a 60-person staff with 12 emergency and specialty doctors. In 2007, Huber managed the construction and transfer of operations to a much larger 22,000-square-foot facility located on the city’s southeast side at 5425 Victory Drive (off the I-465 Emerson Avenue exit near Beech Grove).
During Huber’s tenure, he has also obtained his MBA from Butler University, and been heavily involved with the Veterinary Management Association of Indiana since its inception, and even served as past president. Additionally, he helps plan IndyVet’s free Pet Carnival that takes place every July right outside of the emergency and specialty hospital.
